Meranti Home @ Pelangi village is the name given by the Ministry of Community Development and Sports. Meranti is a Malay name for a local tree. The word pelangi means “rainbow”. Just like the different colours in the rainbow, Meranti Home @ Pelangi village represnts the different races living in the Home. The residents of Meranti Home are from the former Pelangi Home and Woody Lodge and from Woodbridge Hospital.
